Due to Covid, the Port Adelaide Enfield Council had to cancel their famous annual Christmas parade. Instead, the Communications unit at the Council gave me a call up to film and edit some marketing collateral in a short video of Santa driving through the local council area, where he visited a number of libraries and sporting venues, delivering gifts for children and spreading the joy of Christmas. It was fun working with the Mayor and support staff at the council to put together the festive video that was posted on their social media, and the Communications unit mentioned how well I captured the activities of the promotion.
I was contracted by the council the following year to manage the Santa Tour social video where I used my newer camera equipment to produce an even better result. Moving from filming with my phone to working with Panasonic, Sony and Canon gear has been rewarding, and I’ve learnt a bunch of critical skills in settings, angles, lighting, sound – you name it, I learnt it.
